File dates 14 December 1935 - 26 January 1977Subject Information File relates to Seámus Ó Dubhghaill (Seamus Doyle) receipt of a military service pension in respect of his service between 1 April 1916 and 11 July 1921 with the Irish Volunteers and IRA as a Brigade Adjutant, Brigade Officer Commanding and member of the Executive of the Irish Volunteers from 1915 to 1916 and from 1917 to his arrest in May 1920. File also contains: seven (7) page handwritten signed statement, typescript of sworn evidence given by the claimant, and notes of evidence given by T. D. Sinnott and [?] Allen and [?] Brennan before the Advisory Committee, Military Service Pensions Board, 1934 regarding subject's service; typed signed certificate from Tomás Ó Sinnód (T.D. Sinnott), regarding subjects Easter Week service; copy typed letter from Oscar Traynor, Minister for Defence to Dr. James Ryan, Minister for Health (15 April 1947) regarding the request for awarding of additional service for pension purposes to a number of individuals including the claimant; reference to his employment as an examination superintendent by Wexford Vocational Education Committee; and his wife.
Comment: the second linked document contains an interesting written statement of the events (from p.21 to 27/53) of the uprising with regard to Enniscorthy as recounted in 1938, and includes a summary by the Dept. of Defence assessing his application for a pension. — billinghurst sDrewth 10:59, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
