Notability?

[edit]

This person played one season in the NFL, two seasons in the CFL, and is in his first year as a defensive graduate assistant, not even a title of come level of coach. Is this person truly notable? The article has a lot of material, but how significant is the person described? Pete unseth (talk) 17:34, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pete unseth: There is SIGCOV here here here and here. BeanieFan11 (talk) 17:46, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct.
  • Carter played in 14 games, starting two, mostly at nickelback for the Tigers, – pretty sure comma after Tigers is not needed
  • 15 receptions on 30 targets, per Pro Football Focus (PFF) – don't need to say per PFF
  • he made his first collegiate start, at cornerback, in – don't need commas around at cornerback
  • in the ACC Championship Game against the North Carolina Tarheels, recording four tackles, including three solo tackles, and helping Clemson to a 45–37 win and a berth in the College Football Playoff. – this is very clunky with too many ands and commas
  • 51.1 passer rating allowed, per PFF – don't need to say per PFF
  • Carter's Clemson teammates voted him team captain as a senior. He continued in his starting cornerback role on Clemson's defense. – these two sentences can be combined
  • 40.5 passer rating allowed as a senior, per PFF – don't need to say per PFF
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline.
  • When it says its written by the staff there is no need to put website name's staff as the author as done in refs 23 and 26
  • There are also no dates for the references except for 2 and they are both written differently
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose).
  • What makes The Football Database, Sportrac.com, and 3downnation.com reliable
2c. it contains no original research.
  • As a junior, he caught 10 passes for 266 receiving yards, including three touchdowns, during Grayson's 15-0 state championship season. – it would be good to put the first ref after this sentence
  • Spotchecks for refs 1, 6, 8, 15, 20, 26, and 30 are good
2d. it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism.
  • The copyvio detector says there is on a 4.8% of a violation
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
  • Clemson's highly regarded defense – The source doesn't say Clemson's secondary was great so this is not neutral
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
7. Overall assessment.
