If cancellation

[edit]

If this film is cancelled, then this article should merge into Rust shooting incident, since it is not otherwise notable except for the shooting, unless the film is released and garners other notability. -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 19:33, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That is, should we have a vote on whether to merge this article with the other. XXzoonamiXX (talk) 20:44, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense, on account of the fact that the article was only created in response to the shooting incident; in all honesty, are we sure that the should exist as it stands? It seems like it might be redundant.
On the other hand, the shooting incident is self-evidently so notable as to demand a dedicated page, and embedding extraneous information about the film within that page would likely mess up the structure, so one could argue that this page only needs to exist as a "support" for the other. But if that's the case, why would that support become unnecessary when the film is officially cancelled?
In other words, the film is either notable (and this page should stand) or not notable (and it should be merged into Rust shooting incident), and it doesn't seem like whether it's cancelled should really affect that (with the obvious exception of it currently being non-notable but later becoming notable in its own right). Jesus, even I heard that Alec Baldwin doesn't think filming is going to resume now, because he feels bad that the assistant director set him up to shoot the cinematographer. Especially a crew member thinks the film might get permanently cancelled, and I had noticed TSG Entertainment co-produces this film, so if this shooting never happened and if Halyna was still active, I would've been thinking Searchlight Pictures would have acquired the film, but nope. I don't think the film will be able to make it to a festival now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:204:203:5110:D57A:82B7:F9EC:E8AA (talk) 08:02, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like at this point the page should be titled something like Rust (unfinished film) or just straight up direct it to the shooting incident page. Because it was so early in filming, and I just don't see this movie ever getting completed. conman33 (. . .talk) 05:09, 11 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
More like Rust (2021 film production) ? It's not a complete film, but a production for a film that was done in 2021 -- 64.229.90.53 (talk) 03:08, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I don't know if upcoming will be kept late next year. Notwithstanding the deadly accident of Halyna Hutchins, it could be right to say it's a currently suspended production, and will most likely never be revived. The article exists to show what happened with this production before, on, and after Halyna Hutchins passed away, production has been suspended. I'm sure Hollywood doesn't feel like hiring a new cinematographer. Halyna was the most important cinematographer of the film. I don't think filming will ever resume. Just like what happened with Midnight Rider back on April 23, it could be possible that Alec Baldwin might exit the project. Until an official possibility of the film remaining unfinished permanently, the "upcoming film" label can still be applied for now. -- 2601:204:203:5110:3467:979b:fe0a:ebc8 (talk) 20:09, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You know, Rust was never meant for the big screen, but yeah. It is likely to get cancelled. -- AVeganKid (talk) 20:46, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Distributor error

[edit]

The Avenue is listed as the distributor for Rust but this is not correct. Can you please change this? We are not nor will be the distributor for the film in the US nor any other territory. Thank you. I can be reached at jj@[[User:Highland.film, if you have any questions. JJ Caruth, President, The Avenue 108.185.220.108 (talk) 20:56, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspended... again

Use this as a starting point. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:58, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I thought all of this lawsuis was all over this past October. Cwater1 (talk) 17:51, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

the article incorrectly states that Baldwin was acquitted. He was not acquitted; the judge dismissed the charges against him during his trial. Prosecutors want the judge's decision changed to a mistrial so they can bring charges again. https://nypost.com/2024/10/03/entertainment/alec-baldwins-rust-gets-premiere-after-halyna-hutchins-death/ 24.206.64.9 (talk) 17:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
