I shall be reviewing this article against the Good Article criteria, following its nomination for Good Article status. AustralianRupert (talk) 05:13, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Progression

[edit]
  • Version of the article when originally reviewed: [1]
  • Version of the article when review was closed: [2]

Technical review

[edit]
  • no dabs found by the tools;
  • no issues with external links;
  • images lack alt text, you might consider adding it in, but it is not a requirement

Criteria

[edit]
  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
  • "semi-armored frigate and..." (I think that this should be "semi-armoured frigate and" (as the rest of the article appears to use British English variation);
  • "participated in suppressing the Boxer Rebellion" ("Boxer Rebellion" probably could be wikilinked);
  • "The ship passed the Cape of Good Hope" ("Cape of Good Hope" probably could be wikilinked);
  • the Alliluev source is listed in the References, but doesn't appear to be used for a specific citation. Can you work a citation to it into the article? If not, maybe it should moved to a Further reading section.
  • All done.
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
    a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  • No issues.
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
  • "as the flagship of Rear Admiral Tirtov several times during the year" (do we know Tirtov's first name? If the sources don't say, then that's fine, but if they do we should probably include it)
  • "flagship of Rear Admiral Kaznakov who commanded" (as above);
  • "Mediterranean Squadron under the command of Rear Admiral Virenius" (as above)
  • "Captain Lebedev decided to run his ship" (do we know when Lebedev took over command of the ship. The last change of captaincy mentioned was Vitgeft in 1895. Did Lebedev replace him? I understand that sometimes the sources will only give a snapshot of command appointments, so obviously it might not be possible to answer this question);
  • I've added when Lebev assumed command, but my sources don't mention first names at all.
  • "all of the men aboard were taken to the island" (do we know what became of them? Were they rescued? Do sources say anything about this?)
  • No issues.
  • It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
  • No issues.
  • It contains images, where possible, to illustrate the topic.
    a (tagged and captioned): b (Is illustrated with appropriate images): c (non-free images have fair use rationales): d public domain pictures appropriately demonstrate why they are public domain:
  • No issues.
  • Overall:
    a Pass/Fail:
