Quotation rule

Helluva lot of mixture of double and single quoting on this Russell Brand article (as on so many others, alas) and indeed in this discussion. The rules aren't rocket science. I'm an interested user, not a Wikipedian, and am not technically au fait with how things should be changed, but is there not a general way of alerting people to these infelicities? Rule is: take your quote style (singles or doubles) and stick to it. End of rule. With an exception: if quoting within a quote, use the other style. If quoting within a quotation within a quotation, use the first style, so you get alternate nesting. OK, that's the end of the rule. It would be better if Wiki imposed one or the other (doubles tends to be used more, though singles are standard in the UK (with doubles for secondary quotations). I actually use singles and prefer them, but don't mind doubles - if publications are consistent. Ajarmitage 09:24, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree, when I get some time I'll fix that (or someone else can if they get to before me) ^^;; Thanks for the pointer. Shamess 12:34, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Style

Do we have to go on so much at the start of the article about how he dresses? Is that really encyclopedia-worthy> 82.19.29.155 17:08, 7 January 2007 (UTC) Maria

Yes it's essential. 82.41.120.60

How is this notable trivia?

"Brand is not Jewish"

Errr.... alot of people who have articles "aren't Jewish". - Deathrocker 15:53, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

  • with regards to the style - I think this article is in danger of becoming a fan's list of things they have seen him on recently. So they thought they would add it to the article. This becomes problematic as people often write in different styles. The article subsequently loses any continuity and overall perspective. Just something I have been noticing. Vandalism

Is it possible for this page to be locked because someone is repeatedly vandalising it and i cant keep up with them! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Weirdloopyloo (talkcontribs) 19:21, 30 January 2007 (UTC).

Strange Title

Sorry if I make any mistakes - I did read the talk page guidelines and think I got the tildes thing and all. To the point:

In the Russel Brand article, right before the Personal part starts there's a rather odd phrase all in capitals. I'm pasting it here:

--ZATOICHI IS A SPOTTY LITTLE, GREASY-HAIRED TWAT!!!--

I don't believe it belongs in the article and thought I should mention it.

Thank you,

Vandalism on Russell's Name

Note: Russell's middle name is Edward, according to his fansite, if it has been changed from Edward, please change it back unless there is a different source for it. Drum guy 14:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, watch out for lots of vandalism on Russell's name. Matt Morgan from the radio show mentioned that he noticed people have been changing Russell's name on his Wikipedia page quite a lot and since then I've noticed lots of unregistered people have been vandalising his name. Maybe it's worth locking edits by unregistered people for a while? ( Davehard 11:11, 4 February 2007 (UTC) )

The page is locked right now, semi-protected I think, so hopefully that will cut down on the name vandalism. If someone has a reliable source for his middle name, please add it to the article. (jarbarf) 19:36, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I requested the protection. His middle name was Edward ages before the vandalism started but yeah, it'll be good when we can find a good source on his full name ( Davehard 19:41, 7 February 2007 (UTC) )

++We should keep it unlocked now. It's a feature on the Russell Brand page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/brand/galleries_brand.shtml ( Bang Bang You're Dead 21:12, 10 February 2007 UTC) )

Haha unlock it? Being on the website promotes more vandals :) Davehard 20:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
That's the whole point! --Bang Bang You're Dead 01:05, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Changed it back to Edward, http://www.russellbrandfansite.com/about.html1.html

I love that we have to source someone's name. Shamess 15:32, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Haha yeah! Davehard 17:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Article expansion?

That template at the top of this talk page (added Jan 07) says that the article needs expanding. Does it really? It looks long enough. Does that template really need to be there? ( Davehard 19:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC) )

Ratings source

I've removed

The ratings for the most recent series of Big Brother's Big Mouth during [[Big Brother (UK series 7)|Big Brother 7]] have been good. <ref>http://www.barb.co.uk/viewingsummary/weekreports.cfm?RequestTimeout=500&report=weeklytop30</ref>

from the article as the source page doesn't have any relevant info on it. If anyone wants to find a relevant source for that, go ahead; it might be more useful to compare the ratings to the other Big Brother series, rather than saying whether they were good, but that's not necessary. Thanks, Drum guy 14:48, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Spelling Errors

Spotted a few spelling errors in the 'Pete Doherty' section and corrected them. 'Apperently', 'freind' and 'Kate Modd' changed. Being new to wikipedia I hope it's all right.--Andrewjd 22:38, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Wrong birth place

Russell Brand was born in Grays. It was this for a long time on his page and he has mentioned it numerous times on his radio shows. I am an unregistered user so I cannot change it.

I've changed it back to Grays Chavmusiksux 21:39, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, Russell was born in Grays, I know this for sure because I live there. :)

College

Brand went to Italia Conti Academy, but he was kicked out 2 weeks proir to graduation

Movie

The film Russell Brand is filming is Forgetting Sarah Marshall staring Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame, currently filming in Hawaii. He discusses the making of this film on his BBC Radio 2 show from Saturday April 14th and corresponding podcast. Someone should add this into the article, but not me because it is semi-protected, apparently. 24.215.226.44 03:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)ben

Just did cheers for the info Bencey 17:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Radio

The show has currently been overtaken by the Scott Mills podcasr as well. It is now in 3rd place in the podcast charts. Just wondering whether this is useful information. If so, please change it (I cannot as I am an unregistered member).

The Revolushion

Sorry about the spelling but i think there should be something on it as he says about it a lot Wikilove123 15:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

its based on love as russell said "if you want something out of a shop you have to do a cuddle for it"

Short answer, no. It is a running joke on his radio show, nothing more. AndrewJDTALK -- 20:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Fired from XFM

Heard he got fired from XFM because he once smoked crack with homeless people on air. Is this correct? —Preceding unsigned 16:35, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
