We need better illustrations than these
[edit]The article begins by saying he's "best known for his black and white fantasy art," and then the first illustration is in colour. The black and white picture is a poor example of his work, which is normally much more detailed and skilful. Nobody seeing these selections would understand why he has a Wikipedia article. Death
[edit]Nicholson reportedly died on 17 May 2023.[1][2] I am uncertain if these sources are suitable to add to the article. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 07:05, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

- Citing to a Facebook post that doesn't say where it got its info is probably not suitable. Dekhnews is throwing up a certificate error for me, but the cached version cites to the FB post. I tried being helpful earlier and listing this as a "blog reports he died" fact (citing [1]] but someone reverted that and it was probably the right call. Oblivy (talk) 07:20, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- I guess all we can do is wait for a real obituary. Richard-of-Earth (talk) 07:33, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- That Dekh News site looks AI generated, so I don't trust it at all. You see a lot of those nowadays. The really sad thing is that a lot of these gaming industry folks don't even really get proper obits anymore, so all we often have to go by is a FB post from a friend or family member. If he died over a week ago, I'd expect to see something more or less official by now, but we can wait a bit longer I think. BOZ (talk) 13:47, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

I realise that we wouldn't normally use a blog as a source, but https://www.fightingfantasy.com/blog is the official site of the publisher of the FF books which Russ Nicholson is famous for illustrating, so I think we can rely on it. As for waiting for "a real obituary," this is probably it. Richard75 (talk) 16:45, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
