Confusion with Ruspolia differens
[edit]There has been a lot of taxonomic confusion between Ruspolia differens and R. nitidula. As a result, this article on R. nitidula actually combines information on two different species. It turns out that:
- R. nitidula is palearctic, not found in Sub-Saharan Africa at all.
- R. differens is eaten as nsenene in Africa, not R. nitidula.
References for these in the article on Ruspolia differens.
This article will need tidying up, so that everything that relates to R. differens (e.g. being eaten for food) goes to that article, distributions are updated etc. Might also include a few sentences on the confusion between the two species, it has only been resolved during the past few years. (I haven't time right now to do the edits myself, but will do so later if no one else gets there before me)
