- I think that if a non-free image had to be added to the article because there is no free images of the subject, at least it must be a clear image, not that blurry tiny picture in wich no one can distinguish Gelayev. Please replace it with a proper clear image.--HCPUNXKID (talk) 17:32, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
Absolutely. Btw, this thread has a large collection of pictures. --Niemti (talk) 00:06, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page
[edit]Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

[edit]Cyberbot II has detected links on Ruslan Gelayev which have been added to the blacklist, either globally or locally. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed or are highly inappropriate for Wikipedia. The addition will be logged at one of these locations: local or global If you believe the specific link should be exempt from the blacklist, you may request that it is white-listed. Alternatively, you may request that the link is removed from or altered on the blacklist locally or globally. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. Please do not remove the tag until the issue is resolved. You may set the invisible parameter to "true" whilst requests to white-list are being processed. Should you require any help with this process, please ask at the help desk.

Kavkaz Center as a source
[edit]Kavkaz Center is used as a source for the supposed activities of Gelayev's son in Syria. This is highly questionable. Gelayev, when he was commander, tended to be more in line with the secular (or rather, non-Islamist) side of the intra-Chechen conflict, along with Maskhadov and Zakayev. When he came back to Chechnya from Georgia, he had a constant problem of getting outmaneuvered by Islamist actors like Udugov, as Akhmadov explains in his book. It's important to note that both sides of the Chechen resistance also have/had their own news outlets -- the Islamists under Udugov had/have Kavkaz Center, whereas the secularists under Zakayev (who was technically Udugov's boss despite them clashing with each other on a near-constant basis) had/have Chechenpress. Gelayev, even though he clashed with Islamists, is a respected commander, and so for this reason Kavkaz Center has ample motive to make up shit about his son. As I said, I haven't read the report and haven't seen any evidence at all, so I can't say much on the specific matter at hand, but it seems very thoroughly suspicious. --Yalens (talk) 16:21, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Involvement in the Soviet-Afghan war
[edit]In 1979-1980, Gelayev took part in the Soviet-Afghan war. He led his Spetsnaz battalion in special operations against Afghan mujahideen, before changing sides with Chechens in the 90's.
In 1979 Gelayev was 14-15 years old. Is there any source on how he would have led a Spetznas battalion? 91.39.117.66 (talk) 12:43, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
