Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time
[edit]Dan56 has twice reverted the addition of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time ranking in the lead. Two editors agree and one does not, so that is consensus. CountGramula (talk) 17:20, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- WP:CONSENSUS#Determining consensus → "Consensus is ascertained by the quality of the arguments given on the various sides of an issue, as viewed through the lens of Wikipedia policy." Dan56 (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- CountGramula, mentioning the ranking is undue, because the lead is meant to summarize the article's "most important aspects ... The emphasis given to material in the lead should roughly reflect its importance to the topic, according to reliable, published sources." Beyond the use of the list itself to cite it in the body, what other discussion of Rolling Stone's 500 greatest list is there among the sources in this article to further establish its importance? Or is its importance to this album based on your opinion of the list only? Dan56 (talk) 21:40, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- I think you are wrong, and I see that the RS list is mentioned in the leads of dozens of music articles and nobody has an issue with them there. Yes I know, WP:OTHERSTUFF, but almost every reason you give against it is your own opinion that others do not share. To answer your question, I think that the album was included in the list helps to establish the album's importance. CountGramula (talk) 17:34, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
