Massive edits with no clear justification

[edit]

@CatiaEditsWiki: You keep editing this page in an unclear way, which includes removing information that is sourced but which you claim to be "false and biased". Can you please explain specifically the reasons for each your proposed changes, so that we can reach a consensus about them before proceeding? LongLivePortugal (talk) 14:37, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have told you before, there are false facts on the information you have provided. When you add «In the aftermath of the election, Rio announced he would resign from the party's leadership.», this is not true. Mr. Rio did not resign, he said he wouldn't be running again. There are several ways you can check this information, but here is a clear example: https://visao.sapo.pt/atualidade/politica/2022-04-05-diretas-no-psd-podem-ser-adiadas-porque-rui-rio-nao-se-demitiu-formalmente-e-em-portugues/
Also, you keep deleting the information about the elections that took place on november 2021 for no reason: https://www.dn.pt/politica/rui-rio-reeleito-lider-do-psd-rangel-promete-lealdade-e-pede-unidade-14360380.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by CatiaEditsWiki (talkcontribs) 15:09, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If what you say about his resignation is true, then it doesn't justify that we merely delete the information about his resignation, but rather that we replace it with the correct information. I will do that and add the source you mentioned.
As for the November 2021 elections, I accept that explanation.
Can you please explain the remaining changes you are performing?
Also, please stop reverting my edits while this discussion is taking place. Decisions on Wikipedia are based on consensus. When there is a dispute about an edit you have performed which ends up being reverted, the matter should be discussed in order to reach consensus before the controversial edit is reinstated. Failure to do so could be considered edit warring, which is prohibited on Wikipedia. LongLivePortugal (talk) 08:45, 14 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am adding information about his education, professional career and also PSD leadership. All true information according to his bio and the party's official website, which has true facts. I have been putting the sources so I don't see why you keep deleting this information. CatiaEditsWiki (talk) 08:16, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@CatiaEditsWiki: Your latest edit shows you are attempting to add unsourced information and removing sourced text.
You are adding the following four unsourced sentences:
  • "Repeating the position [of vice-president of the PSD], between 2008 and 2010, with Manuela Ferreira Leite."
  • "Rio was reelected Mayor of Porto, with absolute majority in 2005, against Francisco Assis, and in 2009, against Elisa Ferreira."
  • "His third and final term ended on the 22 October of 2013, having been, to date, the mayor who, in the history, has longest presided its destinies."
  • "During eight years (2005-2013), Rio also presided over the Porto Metropolitan Board, which, to date, is also the maximum period of time in which the position can be held."
Perhaps you have placed a source in an earlier edit and have forgotten it in the latest one. Either way, please add the sources to these four statements.
And you are removing the following three sourced pieces of information:
  • "In January 2020, Rio fended off another leadership challenge on a promise to keep the leading opposition force on a centrist course. In the party's 2020 leadership election, he scored 53 percent in a runoff vote against the party's former parliamentary spokesman Luís Montenegro, who demanded a more aggressive opposition to António Costa's Socialist Party following the Social Democrats' worst result in over 30 years in the parliamentary elections the previous October."
  • "In the 2022 Portuguese legislative election, the Social Democrats lost 3 seats, taking them to 76 seats in the Assembly."
  • "Rio's statements were a response to Paulo Mota Pinto, who referred to Rio for further clarification on the alleged 'dark interests' who want to dominate the party. [...] Rio admitted to perceiving Paulo Mota Pinto's reference."
Why are you also removing this text? LongLivePortugal (talk) 19:25, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will revise and include all sources to the information you mention.
As for the information excluded, the one refering to Freemasonry, the information makes no sense as is. Somenone wrote that Paulo Mota Pinto referred to Rio for further clarification but the information about Mota Pinto's original statement is nowhere. Also, this information doesn't seem important to the bio overall, we have big themes as education, career, awards, PSD leadership and then, without context or relevance, and entire section about this. Why do you think this enlightens people or makes sense overall to be featured? CatiaEditsWiki (talk) 10:45, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@CatiaEditsWiki: The information about Paulo Mota Pinto provides context for Rio's statements, which is why it makes sense. It is in the sources. They say that Mota Pinto's original claims had been made in an interview to Expresso; if you find them, feel free to add them for further context. As for the whole section about the Freemasonry, it is here because it was one of the main points that marked Rio's distinction from Montenegro and Pinto Luz in the internal election.
