Changed "American" to "US" because it didn't say where in the Americas the select side were from. It's important to remember that the US is just part of the Americas. As such they can't have exclusive use of the word "American" to describe their citizens.
In English, the adjective "American" is usually pre-fixed, e.g. North American, Central American, Mesoamerican, Latin American etc to indicate that it isn't US alone. But I am afraid that you will have to alter thousands of articles if you wish to change this usage.--MacRusgail (talk) 15:28, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
