2006 Atlantic Cup

[edit]

As I recall, in 2006, there was supposed to be a tournament featuring the USA, RSA, Japan and the West Indies in Atlantic City. South Africa and the Windies dropped out and the tournament was reduced to a single game between USA and Japan. The original concept and the single resulting game were billed as "The Atlantic Cup." Should this game be considered the inaugural Atlantic Cup? (For more info: AMNRLRugbyhelp (talk) 17:33, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. Is there any more info that doesn't come directly from the AMNRL itself?--Cúchullain t/c 15:26, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed redirect

[edit]

I think that this page should redirect to "Rugby League Atlantic Cup" for the following reasons: 1. That is the name of the tournament as indicated by the logo on the page: "2009 Rugby League Atlantic Cup" 2. It looks more tidy than "Atlantic Cup (rugby league)" 3. It is more like the format used for the Rugby League World Cup and Rugby League Four Nations articles (and since those are the top international tournaments, it makes sense that articles about smaller tournaments should follow their formatting.

Any objections? / I don't actually know the appropriate method for moving an article. Rugbyhelp (talk) 12:03, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No objection from me. You can move the page with the "move" button under the little arrow next the the search box. One question though: what's the source for the statistics you added?--Cúchullain t/c 15:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The attendances and venues in the table? Those are lifted straight from the info boxes on the pages for the 2010 Atlantic Cup and the 2009 Atlantic Cup. The original sources are cited there. I may move the page soon, or I may forget about it again. I certainly wouldn't object if somebody else did it. Rugbyhelp (talk) 17:51, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the page, and cited the attendance figures as best I could. I never found a total figure for the 2010 cup; I don't know that it was ever released. If anyone has it, please add it in.--Cúchullain t/c 14:21, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Same Tournament?

[edit]

As noted in the section 'Future', the Atlantic Cup is to be hosted by the Axemen again this year. Should this still be considered the same tournament?119.149.13.51 (talk) 00:48, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
