Origin of the name?

[edit]

This reader was hoping to find out who the reservoir is named for. Some local residents named Reuter and Hess, perhaps? 75.163.200.90 (talk) 21:24, 10 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Me too. But the only name connections I can find in Colorado is Hess Rd. Probably a local dignitary or early landowner. Probably Rueter was another; possibly C. August Rueter or a relative in or near Parker, CO. This page mentions "Rosie Rueter, whose family owned 1,120 acres four miles west of Parker", which is about where the reservoir is, so I assume that's them. Given that these are two names of somebody, I connected them with an en dash, as is customary per MOS:DASH.
There's also a Hess-Rueter Management Company, LLC, in Littleton, CO. Probably some members of Parker families got married or into business together. This map shows a "Hess-Rueter Land LP" off Crowfoot Valley Rd., which is near the reservoir. Dicklyon (talk) 00:43, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just added a section explaining the naming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pku12 (talkcontribs) 00:31, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fix Reference

[edit]

Referenced article no longer works. Also, it would be nice to add EIS information on expected water seepage and evaporation. GreatZar — Preceding undated comment added 05:50, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
