[edit]The spelling Mössbauer is English, the spelling Mößbauer, to put it quite simply, is not. English-language publications from Britannica to even the English-language version of the Nobel prize website, use the English spelling. This is Wikipedia policy, regardless of Anglophobic attempts to assert otherwise. Unschool 03:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
The spelling Mössbauer is English? Really? With an umlaut o? I didn't know that the letters Ä/ä, Ö/ö and Ü/ü are in the English alphabet. The correct English spelling is Moessbauer, substituting the ligatures ö with oe and ß with ss. The spelling Mössbauer is a hybrid of English and German. By the way, the spelling of names has no real rules, even within a language.
Generally, names are never translated (except when the target language has an established equivalent: Munich, Cologne, etc). And I'm an anglophile… --jae (talk) 15:56, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

[edit]"Rudolf Mössbauer was an excellent teacher." This seems a highly subjective and opinionated statement. Are there any references for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.34.253.153 (talk) 10:06, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
