Move discussion in progress
[edit]There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Flemish Giant which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 13:59, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
I don´t know if in English you use "Galician Blond", but rubia in galician means "redish", in Spanish is where it means "blonde" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.40.236.17 (talk) 21:20, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
Name of the breed
[edit]It's clear that the name predominantly used for this breed in reliable sources is "Rubia Gallega", as for example in the SFGate source used in the article. Google Scholar gives 332 results for "Rubia Gallega" cattle, 56 results for "Galician Blond" cattle. As pointed out above by an IP editor, the "Blond" is also a mistranslation. Unless anyone disagrees, I plan to move the page to Rubia Gallega for those reasons. I'll probably do so in a few days unless there any objections. Comment removed from article text
[edit]I've removed this comment, added by IP 159.147.50.15, from the article text, as it seems more suited to this page:
The name Galician Blond comes from a mix-up between Galician rubio or roibo (red, specially the hues seen in redheads, red-coated mammals and male robins' chests) and Spanish rubio (blond).
