History - role of Lord Charles Beresford
[edit]When I first read this article the attribution (in the History section) of the foundation of the RNPS to Beresford looked questionable, despite its citation to an official history published in World War II. The Commander-in-Chief Home Fleet (in same period renamed Grand Fleet) during World War I was in fact Sir John Jellicoe, with Beresford having retired from the Navy in 1911. To harmonise with information I found much later in the article (section Boats of the NRPS), I have altered reference to him to emphasise he was a pre-war Home Fleet Commander, having recommended Grimsby in 1907.Cloptonson (talk) 19:18, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
I also note that in the article on Commanders-in-Chief Home Fleet Beresford is not listed, and in his article his period of command between 1907-09 is given as of the "Channel Fleet". Would it be better for accuracy to delete mention of him in this article as Commander-in-Chief Home Fleet, although it may have been given somewhat erroneously in the citations concerned?Cloptonson (talk) 19:58, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
