4th (Extra Reserve) Battalion
[edit]Should that read kinsale, county cork ireland or Kinsale & in county kerry

9th (Service) Battalion
[edit]There is a discrepancy here that needs clarification. Currently states that battalion was subjected to a mustard gas attack in April 1916 at the Battle of Hulluch. However the Battle of Hulluch page states that this was a chlorine gas attack, and Poison gas in World War I states that mustard gas was first used in 1917.

Victoria Crosses?
[edit]The lead claims the regiment received eight in total, but only three are mentioned in the article and the "recipients" section. Is eight correct? Scalpfarmer 20:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Eight are recorded, but not all VC recipients were of Irish nationality or do not yet have a Wiki-page. Osioni 10:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Chronological order
[edit]Would it not be best to have the battles in which 1RMF was involved in chronological order? What a rather confusing order it is in now! Wikig39 (talk) 12:46, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- re strange comment: 1RMF battles and actions are indeed in chronological order, 1914 to 1918 Osioni (talk) 14:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Oops, my mistake Osioni. I hadn't noticed, the first time I read the article, the separation you were making between the actions of the 1st and the 2nd (R.S.) Bns. Maybe making the break/transition clearer? Great article, btw. Wikig39 (talk) 14:58, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Battles of Neuve Chapelle and Aubers chronology
[edit]The section "1915: Gallipoli and the Second Battle of Ypres" says that the 2 battalion fought in the battle of Neuve Chapelle and says "The day before the attack was to be launched on 9 May, the battalion received Absolution from their chaplain, Father Francis Gleeson." But Neuve Chapelle was 10-13 March. This is in reference to the Battle of Aubers, on 9 May. The article for Father Francis Gleeson also metions the absolution being before this battle, not Neuve Chapelle. If there are no objections, I'll change this Forbioso (talk) 14:03, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
