Flora danica vs blue fluted
[edit]In 1790, Royal Copenhagen brought out its now famous Flora Danica ‘Blue Fluted’ dinner service, with gilded edge and Danish flora motifs,[3] and Royal Copenhagen held a monopoly on the "Blue Fluted" name.[4]
Flora danica and blue fluted are two very distinctly different patterns! Blue fluted is the famous blue line pattern that people associate with the Royal Copenhagen brand today. Flora Danica on the other hand has naturalistic depiction of local flora, based on a botanical book of the same name.
The original source correctly states: "Royal porcelain is one of contemporary Denmark's most traditional products, which put Denmark on the world map already in 1790 with the Flora Danica set. The set is the most expensive in the series, with its gilded edge and motifs from the Danish flora". So somehow the Blue fluted got mixed up in there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8388:8884:5F00:F810:EB7D:CF00:B414 (talk) 07:20, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
