Requested move 28 June 2016
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Moved per WP:THE. Consensus supports moving this page. (closed by a page mover) (non-admin closure). Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:53, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- The Royal Bank of Scotland → Royal Bank of Scotland
- The Royal Bank of Scotland Group → Royal Bank of Scotland Group
– per WP:COMMONNAME. RBS bank and RBS Group websites mainly refer to the name without "the". – Fayenatic London 10:43, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support; aside from situations where "The" is needed for disambiguatory purposes, e.g. "The Times", we really only use "The" when it's a critical part of the meaning, e.g. "The Princess X" as opposed to "Princess X" (if I remember rightly that "The" is some additional dignity) or "The Crown" as opposed to "crown". Nyttend (talk) 13:27, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Support per WP:THE. Note that the text of this article frequently refers to "Royal Bank of Scotland" without the definite article. --Deskford (talk) 12:24, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per registered name of company. Tim! (talk) 20:16, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

- Support per Nyttend - This is a hard one as both their Facebook page and the copyright thing at the bottom of the website say "The Royal Bank of Scotland" however they seem to brand themselves as "RBS / Royal Bank of Scotland" - I would or more less say Royal Bank of Scotland was the actual official name. –Davey2010Talk 15:56, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
