He is the author of this article
[edit]If this statement is true, then the article is an autobiography. I've tagged it accordingly, apologise if the statement is untrue. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:39, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your attention.
- "He is the author of this article." is a contemporary quotation from the article.[1] It does not date from the creation of the page by User:Willwell77 22-23 August 2009, for it was inserted by ISP early in 2011.[2] It is plausible, based on the early content, including portrait image, and on the peacock tone.
- Creator Willwell77 does seem to be a family member, based on the early content and on her/s earliest recorded and immediately preceding attention[3] to Marilu Henner, who is said here from 2010-03-05 to be Welland's sister-in-law.[4]

- Notwithstanding the claim that he or those close to him may have been the authors of some of the content at some point, I find the article fact based and neutral as presented with sufficient reference to demonstrate impartiality. I am removing the tag in this regard. Newwhist (talk) 01:52, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
Germany
[edit]Has Welland relocated to Germany, or formally registered as a German player with WBF? [5] (that is, eligible to represent German and not to represent USA in WBF play).
I guess not, guess some confusion. He has entered "European" pairs championships with both halves of the great German women pair Daniela von Arnim–Sabine Auken, but only the European Open Championships--the odd-years biennial meet, new this millenium, which is not limited to European players.
By the way, is Christal Henner-Welland a native German?

- From the Neapolitan Club (Italy, English-language edition, 9 Apr 2014):
- "Sabine Auken: Roy Welland can represent Germany in Opatija", by Jan van Cleeff quoting Auken at length
- That concerns objections (publ by the same source, 8 Apr 2014) to his eligibility. Their open team had won the trials to represent Germany in the European Championships, June. (I know one thing more. WBF player records are updated with a lag.) --P64 (talk) 00:44, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Sabine Auken–Roy Welland
[edit]- verbatim copy from Talk:Sabine Auken (under this subheading) -P64
We should learn the crux of Roy Welland's eligibility to represent Germany in European/EBL and World/WBF competition. The German national bridge federation DBV website probably explains it somewhere. (I can't read it well enough to cover the point here if I were to seek and find it there.)
October 2014, in the off-year world championship meet (where all entries may be transnational, although some national bridge federations may pay expenses for some), Auken–Welland finished 1st in Mixed Teams, 5th in Mixed Pairs, and 3rd in Open Teams --as i understand DBV-News: 14. Red Bull World Bridge Series in Sanya, China.

- Those two play both for the bavarian bridge club BC München and won the 2017 Team-Bundesliga as cam be seen at http://www.bridge-verband.de/web/news/3758 --Bodhi-Baum (talk) 13:08, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
