Belgian team
[edit]There's a problem with the Belgian team. There was uncertainty whether Jean van Silfhout was a coxswain or a rower and that's been discussed and resolved (he was a rower); you can see that on that article's talk page. Akadunzio has found a French-language source from the Belgian Rowing Federation that lists their Olympic rowers. This situation is as yet unresolved for this 1924 event as the rowers and the coxswain do not match the Olympedia source. Canadian Paul, could you and your team please have a look? Here's how the sources compare:
Source | Rowers | Coxswain |
---|---|---|
Belgian Rowing Federation | Georges Anthony | |
Olympedia | Olympedia does not specify who of the five was the cox |
So what we've got is as follows:
- Across the sources, four of the five names match.
- Those four matches all appear to be rowers.
- The fifth person in the Olympedia set is Jean Van Silfhout, who Akadunzio tells us was a rower of 80 kg. Hence, the Olympedia set has five rowers in the boat!
- The fifth person in the Belgian Rowing Federation source is Georges Anthony, who we know was a coxswain.
As you can see on the van Silfhout talk page, the official Olympic report (large file at 85 MB) has on page 176 van Silfhout as the cox for the M4+, and on page 178 he's listed as a rower of the M8+. That's of course not right. How do we get the Olympedia source corrected? Schwede66 19:49, 27 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Schwede66: - Bit late, but Olympedia's event summary now has Carlos Van den Driessche listed on the Belgian team, although clicking on his name, the 1924 rowing details aren't present on his profile. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:35, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Lugnuts: I'm sure that Canadian Paul or somebody on his team will fix that. Schwede66 21:29, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- Somehow missed this... I'll pass this along too! Canadian Paul 00:54, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- Turns out that this was an easy fix, so I just did it myself. Should be sorted now. Canadian Paul 06:33, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
