Long enough: - article is only just over 1500 characters and is on the edge of being a stub.
Policy compliance:
Adequate sourcing: - Some assertions are not sourced and have cite needed tags. Some of the sources do not appear to be from super reliable sources (eg Musicalics and Motely Vision blog) or are very incidental mentions (eg newspaper list of graduates or advertisements of upcoming concerts).
Thanks for your review and feedback! I agree that the Musicalics article is not the most reliable source. I've edited out the information from that article. However, the obit from Motley Vision can be considered reliable. According to WP:SELFPUB, a blog by an expert in the field is okay to use as a source, and Kent Larsen is an expert in the field of Mormon Letters. Even incidental mentions in newspapers are considered reliable, too. I think that the BYU Special Collections entry on Taylor, the various newspaper articles about his works (Papa and the Playhouse, Coriantumr, etc), and this newspaper article especially all support his notability. I hope that you'll review some of the edits I made to the article and agree that Rowan Taylor is a notable composer. October(BYU) (talk) 17:07, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Giving some thoughts on this. I'm looking at the article right now and I'm not really sure if the subject is notable. As far as I can tell, most of the sources in the article are not exactly about him. They're either passing mentions or brief coverage. There's one source about his works. The Yule Concert source ([1]) seems to be less significant coverage and more some kind of announcement or advertisement for his family's performance. Only one source, Motley Vision, appears to actually be about him, and as mentioned in the above review it's probably not enough to establish notability even if the writer is a subject expert. In addition, the source also claims he is "the most prolific composer", but such a strong statement needs a stronger source. I note that the claim is not in the article, it's just something worth noting. Finally, the "Honors" section may need work. I don't think Gradeyourprof.com is reliable, and both the "International Man of the Year" and "Outstanding Man of the Century" awards need attribution as to who exactly bestowed these awards. My suggestion is that the article probably needs to be sent to AFD for a wider hearing, but my opinion is that Taylor's notability is borderline at best; in my opinion, I'm leaning more towards the "not notable" opinion. Unfortunately I don't see this nomination having a path forward owing to the notability and source reliability concerns. An AFD discussion could probably be started in the meantime too in order to test consensus. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:20, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
