Title
[edit]@Rodw: the disambiguator "Inglesham" doesn't seem appropriate here since it isn't in Inglesham but merely near it. It is in the parish of Lechlade so Round House, Lechlade might be better (since there is another on in the Cotswold district). Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:34, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Almost all sources describe it as "at Inglesham" as it is associated with Inglesham locks on the Thames and Severn Canal.— Rod talk 18:10, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- OK, I see that from Google, maybe just leave as is. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:04, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Why just this one?
[edit]Of the five roundhouses on the T&S, all but Coates are Grade II listed. There's nothing that is claimed in the article that makes this one more notable than the others, and nothing that doesn't apply to those other three (and, except the listed status, the one at Coates). I don't see why we're giving weight to one of the five and not the rest, and so this article should either be about all the roundhouses (i.e. Roundhouse (Thames and Severn Canal) or similar) or Thames and Severn Canal#Structures should be expanded. Thoughts? MIDI (talk) 19:42, 6 June 2021 (UTC)
- A week has passed on this – I'll be drafting up a rewrite with the above in mind. MIDI (talk) 09:00, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

- ... that after viewing the Coates round house (pictured), the fiancée of the prospective occupant said she would not marry him unless the canal company made the property more habitable? Source: Offline source in Household (1969), but quote is included in ref in article.
5x expanded by MIDI (talk). Self-nominated at 00:23, 15 January 2022 (UTC).
- Checked with DYK check and Earwig's Copyvio Detector and everything looks good. Hook is from an offline book but MIDI was kind enough to provide a substantial quote from the source and it all seems imminently plausible. Love the hook, substantial article that covers the topic well. Gamaliel (talk) 00:59, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks @Gamaliel:. Offering up this alt to remove the passive voice in the original and provide a bit more brevity:
- ALT1: ... that after viewing the Coates round house (pictured), the prospective occupant's fiancée refused to marry him unless the canal company made the property more habitable?
- MIDI (talk) 09:59, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Agree, this is a better hook, recommend promoting with ALT1. Gamaliel (talk) 03:22, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Promoting ALT1 to Prep 1, unfortunately, without the image. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 16:54, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
