On 2 Oct 1955, The Oklahoman newspaper published an article titled "Mate Kills Legend of 'Cimarron Rose'". Following her death, it gives Rose's accounting of events as told to her husband. It dispels some of the myths in the Wikipedia article. I'm not versed in Wikipedia edits, so maybe others can add the information to complete the story.
