A fact from Rose Cannabich appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 8 April 2017 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Rose Cannabich was "a very beautiful and well-behaved girl", according to her piano teacher Mozart, who composed a piano sonata for her?
While I am clearly not an expert on Frau Cannabich or on the musical families of 18th century Mannheim, this part of one of the sentences immediately struck me as unusual:
"...such as the singers Augusta Elisabeth Wendling and Elisabeth Augusta Wendling and her husband, the violinist Franz Anton Wendling..."
While I understand that it is certainly a possibility that there were sisters with such similar names, the sentence structure made me think this may be an error. I di not feel qualified to fix it, however, because (as stated previously) I am not an expert and understand that there is a chance that this is accurate. Any experts on Rose Cannibich or the mysterious Ms. Wendling(s)?--DrNietzsche —Preceding undated comment added 14:33, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the same thing. It is possible, but are there perhaps other sources that one could look for? Is it possible that one was considerably younger than the other and was named after her? – Corinne (talk) 16:18, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
