[edit]I am an avid fisherman and have caught numerous Roosterfish off of the Mexican coast. What I always wonder is have there ever been attempts to transplant the fish to other regions of the world. It is one of the strongest fighting gamefish out there and once it has attained a size of 40" or so pound for pound one of the best trophies out there. The strike of a rooster (El Gallo) is unlike many other big game species. Fished with live bait trolled slowly in the surf numbers of fish will battle for the oportuntiy to strike. I have personally had 6-8 fish battle for position before one actually hits. All I can say is he should be present in more waters than just the Mexican/South American coast.
