1955 and 1974
[edit]I am not sure this should be down as a Labour gain in 1955, nor that the figures for change should be based on the 1951 result. As noted at the top of the article the 1955 seat used different boundaries to those used in 1950 and 1951, excluding the Urban District of Brentwood (which probably would have had a fair chunk of Conservative support in it). It can also be seen that the number of electors dropped significantly. Equally in 1974, the seat was different from that fought in 1970. The Times Guide to the House of Commons for the first 1974 election records major boundary changes and does not class it as a Conservative gain, so I do not think it should be classed as one, and the change figures should probably be removed.
