Romani from Albania in Greece
[edit]Useful source, posting here so I don't lose track of it (I can tell I'm on the only one who edits this right now :( ) : https://ejournals.epublishing.ekt.gr/index.php/latic/article/viewFile/2746/2510.pdf --Yalens (talk) 19:30, 19 June 2017 (UTC)
Balkan Egyptians ( here referred to by the derogatory term of jevg)
[edit]I believe that these two ethnic minorities should not be placed under the same category, nor should Balkan Egyptians be classified as romani subgroups, when there is no clear evidence of such orgins. The fact that neither of the groups claim common origins should be respected. The only reason why editors place them together is mostly because some ethnic albanians suspect common roots. I don't have to explain how wrong such decision is when the actual parties prespective is not taken fully into consideration. Most historical evidence points to an early Balkan Egyptian presence in Albania ,as well as in other Balkan countries, before the Roma migration. B. Egyptians have never considered themselves Romani, so assuming that they are only because of skin colour is ignorant, dare I say racist. I am aware that there is lack of sources about this community, therefore, I would recommend "History of the Balkan Egyptians" by R Zemon, approved by the Council of Europe, as a starting point of information for this misunderstood group.
