Ethnicity in the lead
[edit]Per MOS:BIO, "Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability." Jewish ethnicity is not relevant to the subject's notability. removing per MOS. Boodlesthecat Meow?
- However, would you not agree that Romkowski is not ethnic Polish? That's the way it reads now, per your revert to your prior edit. I was content to not imply anything about ethnic background in the intro per MOS. —PētersV (talk) 00:10, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- And thank you for your assumption of bad faith WP:POINT in your edit summary. Don't you ever get tired of accusing editors of bad faith? I thought mine was a most reasonable compromise solution. —PētersV (talk) 00:12, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Polish is his nationality, which belongs in the lead. Trying to circumvent the MoS in the manner you did is WP:POINT. Boodlesthecat Meow? 00:14, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Again, with the bad faith. I checked some other bios which would present a similar issue and did find the proper solution. Thank you for your accusation. PētersV (talk) 00:27, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- I must likewise, per the original objection, contend that the significance of the subject being of Jewish background seems completely lost here, within the article. Not only per MOS:BIO but as a mere matter of style, since it reads as very tangential, if not a red herring. Once again, I feel it best to revert this change. --Yst (talk) 18:32, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
When the original discussion started on 16 October 2008 the stub was 708 bytes in size. It consisted of two short, unreferenced sentences. You gotta do better than this, User:Yst. Poeticbent talk 03:07, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
This entire article was written by someone who has very little knowledge of the subject. For example, there never was such a thing as the "socialist Polish October revolution"; Gomułka was not "a close associate of Joseph Stalin" (LIFE magazine is hardly a scholarly source.Instead, I suggest Nicholas Bethell, "Gomułka, A Political Biography"); Kazimierz Moczarski's claim to fame is not that he was "a well-known writer" (he wasn't); the prisoners released were not "populist politicians" but members of the Polish Peasants' Party, which is what the "Ludowcy" are called in English. The author should look up the term "populist" in the dictionary. The text is also marred by the incessant and irritating references to the Jewishness of this or that person. Even in the case of an unnamed person, it is specified that he was Jewish. The text is obviously written by someone for whom it is extremely important to promote the equation "Stalinist Security Apparatus in Poland=Jews". Yes, Jews were numerous in those services, they were even greatly overrepresented, but the vast majority of the operatives were nevertheless ethnically Polish. The text is also full of Polish punctuation and generally needs lot of work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.36.43.52 (talk), ISP: Netia SA, Poland (Mazowieckie), Warsaw; 00:38, 15 December 2013 (UTC).
- Nicholas Bethell never published "Gomułka, A Political Biography". It was Peter K. Raina who published "Władysław Gomułka, A Political Biography" in 1969 (nineteen sixty nine!). Poeticbent talk 02:21, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Romkowski's ethicity is paramount. He was not POLISH ethnically which article suggests he was POLISH as A SUBJECT (just like all Scots are British). He was Jewish as all the people mentioned in the beginning of this article (apart form Radkiewicz). Why it is paramount? because straight after the IIWW out of three most important people in the country - two were Jewish. Out of only three people who could validate death warrants for citizens of Poland were Jewish. The entire top echelon of apparatus of oppression was 90-95% Jewish. In the country supposedly devoid of Jewish inhabitants. That says something, something very unpleasant. Brystygierowa, Berman, Różański, Fejgin, Światło all these people mentioned in this article were Jewish. And they were imprisoning, torturing and killing exclusively non-Jews. So isn't this information paramount to understanding the person described in this particular wikipedia entry?
