[edit]This article does not mention the sexual abuse schandal that has inflicted the dioscess of springfield. A ealier version this article written in in early august of 2005 was changed to not reflect the scandal. Speaking as communicant associated with the disocess of springfield I can attest to that versions accuracy. The sex abuse scandal has touched springfield. The diocese's actions in addressing the issue have come into question. In addition our former bishop was accused of sex abuse, and did not deny the charges. Though he was not crimminally charge because of the statue of limitations.
- In addition 13 year old abuse victim was murdered many years ago, though his name does escape me. A priest was a suspect and that murder is still a open case. - Preceding unsigned comment left by IP user 205.188.117.8 at 04:49 UTC, 4 August 2005
July 2021 Latin Church revision
[edit]As of July 2021, this article was modified to eliminate the nondescript term "Roman Catholic" in favor of the more precise distinction of "Latin Church" (the sui iuris church) and "Catholic Church" (the denomination). If you believe this edit to be in error or improper, please make the relevant reversion and open discussion on this talk page or my personal talk page. Thank you. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:15, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
