Vile atheists and falsifiers of history in archbishop's robes!
[edit]In India, in Chennai, there is the oldest Luz church. The church was built by the Portuguese in the 12th century. The legend, apparently invented relatively recently, says that Portuguese sailors sailing to India were caught in a fierce storm off its coast. In the distance they saw a light, swam towards it and successfully landed on shore. In this very place where they saw the light, they built a church, called it Luz and dedicated it to Christ. But this is just a legend. Probably, the church was named after the one whose name the Lusitanian tribe itself was named - the name of the God Luga/Luz - Christ. Since the name Luz in Portugal is now considered feminine, and the name of the ancestor of the Luz tribe (i.e. the Portuguese), the pagan god Luz, cannot be named after a church dedicated to Christ, the clergy came up with a legend. Allegedly, the church was named after Luz not in honor of the god Luz-Christ, but in honor of Our Lady of Light, and on August 15, 2010, it was declared a shrine of Our Lady of Light by A. M. Chinnappa, Archbishop of Madras Mylapore. Vile atheists and falsifiers of history in archbishop's robes! 2607:9880:1998:7F:0:0:0:DEF6 (talk) 22:28, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
