Hanna was hardly semi-retired in the 1980's. I saw him perform almost every month at the Knickerbocker Cafe on University Place and 9th Street in NYC from 1980-1984. He also had a solo recital at Carnegie Hall during the Newport Jazz Fest in 1983 or 1984, and he popped up around town during the rest of the 80's on a regular basis (including the Village Vanguard). ----Cinenut, May 11 2009----
