Terrorism

[edit]

Ktrimi991, really interested on why you insist on reverting. Conviction on terrorism charges should warrant the terrorism category, don't you think?--Zoupan 19:17, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The first time you added the category without adding a source to the article to back the claim that Roland Bartetzko is convicted on terrorism charges. The second time you added a source that I can not access. Find another source or at least present a quote here. Ktrimi991 (talk) 19:37, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You reverted and said discuss. The article was already cited with the fact (and not claim). You then reverted again after an extra reference.--Zoupan 20:06, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • BBC: A court in Kosovo has sentenced a German national to 23 years in prison after finding him guilty on charges of murder and terrorism.
  • Ball 2002: Bartetzko was charged with murder, attempted murder, and terrorism.
  • Arnold 2008: convicted of murder, attempted murder and terrorism

There you go.--Zoupan 20:06, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notable?

[edit]

It's very unclear what is this person notable for. The cited 2002 news article from the BBC says that the case was "high-profile", which could be the beginning of notability, but this is covered by the WP:SINGLEEVENT policy, and this begs the question — is the event itself notable? Could there perhaps be an article about it? The other sources are brief mentions in books about foreign war volunteers and war crimes. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 05:27, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your objections sound reasonable. In addition, Google have only several finds on him from the last year, besides his activity in Quora. About half of them are about his book. --KuboF Hromoslav (talk) 16:02, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The subject's other activities are mentioned extensively in From Byron to Bin Laden, which was published by Harvard University Press. He was also the first Westerner charged with murder in post-war Kosovo. I think this article clearly meets WP:NOTABILITY. Amanuensis Balkanicus (talk) 16:44, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't seem very extensive to me. Just mentioned briefly on a few pages. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 22:21, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's absolutely a case of WP:SINGLEEVENT. His only notability is being a terrorist (and even that, primarily from a single incident). That's it. All coverage subsequent is either based on that incident (in the case of tertiary and secondary sources), or in the case of his Quora profile, relates to his (primary source) commentary about that incident. There is shockingly little reliable coverage elsewhere. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 04:54, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Discharge

[edit]

Source [3], the content of the DW article is not correctly reflected, I'll take the liberty to edit and move the sentence up, since this discharge has nothing to do with the incident described in that section. The article does not say that he was discharged in 2001 (and the Wiki article itself says he left the Bundeswehr in 1992), it says a 2001 parliamentary inquiry's answer contained the information he was discharged (at an unidentified point in time) under Sec. 55 para 5 of the Soldatengesetz. Unfortunately looking for the parliamentary record is searching a needle in a haystack. Anyways he can't have been discharged in 2001, since the cited Sec. 55 para. 5 deals with discharge of Zeitsoldaten ("fixed term soldiers") within their first four years of service. He joined the Bundeswehr in 1987 and if we assume that he only became Zeitsoldat after the mandatoy military service (which was 20 months at the time) his discharge under Sec. 55 para. 5 cannot have happened any later than 1994. And in fact everyone gets discharged when they join a foreign military service. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.82.244.113 (talk) 08:59, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
