Co-ordinates

[edit]

The co-ordinates seem off - are they for the mouth entrance on the Georgian side? The location does not appear to be in South Ossetia.

I have no idea - i took them from the equivalent russian wikipedia page - Master Of Ninja (talk) 17:15, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Altitude

[edit]

The altitude given is obviously that of the Roki Pass (across which the old road ran until the construction of the tunnel in 1985), not that of the tunnel which must be much lower. Zamora1934 (talk) 19:33, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the tunnel's reported destruction?

[edit]

Why'd this get deleted from mention? I'm still not entirely certain the tunnel is currently operating (admittedly, I live far away), but regardless of it's actual destruction, doesn't it become an interesting historical curiosity to include that it was reported destroyed in the South-Ossetian conflict?

Well, as I remember, this was allegation in Georgian media. But Georgian media declared too much things that were too far from reality to even mention one of them here... The tunnel is certainly functioning: it's the only bold route that conntects Russia with South Ossetia, so its destruction would be quite noticeable... 79.175.2.54 (talk) 09:59, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
