Personal details?

[edit]

It's amazing that this person could be the next chairman of the Fed and there is no personal information about him. Add his religion, family, wife's name and if possible her background, etc. 101.51.239.199 (talk) 22:38, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Detailed info regarding his wife, Annette Nazareth can be found in the separate Wikipedia article on her. --TommyBoy (talk) 20:09, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Would be interesting to know how he was able to not be drafted and be in college versus Vietnam, where millions of others were. The number one issues of that era were conscription and the war, and what people did about them is a window into how they deal with crisis because, at the time this fellow and many others entered college, there was a crisis of the biggest war of our lifetime and healthy young men were confronted with that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.49.27.38 (talk) 01:48, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request to add back recent deletions

[edit]

It looks like back on October 26 and 27th, there was a lot of important and historical biographical information that was deleted from Roger Ferguson's page, including some of the biographical information about Roger and what he did during his time as Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve. As one of the few black Fed Governors, the information about his time there is incredibly important. I believe that maybe the information was removed because it wasn't properly cited? But i would like to ask the editors to add this information back in with the proper citations. In full disclosure, and in accordance with Wikipedia's conflict of interest editing guidelines, I am not making these changes myself but am requesting these changes since I am an employee of TIAA, the company where Roger Ferguson is CEO. I hope the editors here will consider my request given the importance and relevance of the information below, now that it has all been properly cited.

Here is the language I believe should be added back in under a section titled "Federal Reserve":

From November, 1997, until his appointment as Vice Chairman in October, 1999, he served as a Member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Ferguson was the only Federal Reserve Governor in Washington, D.C. during the September 11 attacks in 2001. [1]

He was responsible for leading the Federal Reserve's initial response to the terrorist attacks and was praised for his expert handling of the crisis. [2]

As Vice Chairman, among other duties, Ferguson represented the Federal Reserve in international policy groups. Between July 1998 and March 2000, Ferguson served as Chairman of the Joint Y2K Council. [3]

The Council, supported by the Bank for International Settlements, was formed to address issues associated with the Year 2000 computer challenge within the global financial supervisory community. [4]

Ferguson also served as Chairman of the Group of Ten Working Party on Financial Sector Consolidation. [5]

Formed in September 1999 at the request of the finance ministers and central bank governors of the G-10, the Working Party examined the causes of consolidation in the financial sector and its potential effects. The Working Party released its final report on January 25, 2001. [6]

During 2003, Ferguson became the Chairman of the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), a central bank panel that monitors and examines broad issues related to financial markets and systems.[7]

He also became the Chairman of the Financial Stability Forum (FSF), which promotes international financial stability through information exchange and international cooperation in financial supervision and surveillance. In his role as Chairman of the CGFS, Ferguson monitored financial markets and reported on financial conditions and financial stability to the Group of Ten (G10) Central Bank Governors. [8]

As Chairman of the FSF, Ferguson had a similar monitoring and reporting role for the Group of Seven (also known as the G-7) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors. [9]

He also presented an opening statement at the semi-annual meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the International Monetary Fund. [10]
