Samuel Eldred
[edit]Perhaps the phrase no formal training is a poor choice ? In those days the standard training was apprenticeship to an already established physician: a doctor (I guess the word means teacher in latin ?). I had thought I remembered him having had his own article. Surprisingly I couldn't find anything about him on the web beyond genealogical listings.
