Questions on Robb's background

Did Nixon appoint him as payoff for violating civil rights, for holding unfair hearings?

@Juror1: As to the first question, the answer may be yes -- sort of. I found an April 1969 "Washington Merry Go Round" column by Drew Pearson and Jack Anderson. The authors discussed some of the cases in which Robb had been involved, particularly serving as counsel for the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission during the the anti-communist investigation of Robert Oppenheimer. Pearson and Anderson suggested that as a result of this reputation, conservative Democratic Senators Thomas Dodd and James Eastland both tried to persuade Lyndon Johnson to appoint Robb as an appeals court judge, but Johnson refused. They later made the same arguments to Nixon, who acquiesced.

I did not find any articles that indicated that Robb died of any particular disease. As far as I can tell, he died from a terminal case of being 78 years old.
