Notability

Standing as a candidate does not confer notability, and I don't see anything else in his bio that suggests he meets WP:BIO. —C.Fred (talk) 01:51, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Correct, candidate does not confer notability. However, he is the Republican candidate for the seat, therefore he has and will be getting alot of press. Had he been one of the other 3 failed nominees, then he probably wouldn't be getting an article. Bgwhite (talk) 21:04, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Removal of a source

I added information about the primary date and the challengers in the Republican Primary. Another editor removed the reference, but left the information that reference had introduced (namely, the election date and slate of candidates). I restored this reference. If another editor thinks there is something wrong with this reference, then s/he should remove all the information in the section. It doesn't make any sense to leave information with no reference. If another editor believes the reference to be imperfect, they should find additional sources, or accept an imperfect reference over no reference at all. Readers of this article deserve to know the primary date & challengers. It is basic, non-controversial information and I'm surprised I'm the first person to add it (on election eve, at that). You may have added useful information, but the source which serves to verify the info is "not reliable" because it is an open wiki. See WP:ELNO, item 12. If Ballotpedia has used reliable sources, then please use those non-wiki sources in this article. Thanks. – S. Rich (talk) 04:38, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
If the source is not reliable, then the information is not reliable, in which case you should certainly remove it. Champaign Supernova (talk) 04:40, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Not necessarily true. We might see Joe Snuffy's blog used as a reference where Joe says "The sun comes up in the east." But we would not dispute that. We'd simply remove Joe's blog as the reference. We could then tag the statement as needing a citation. – S. Rich (talk) 05:08, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Rodney L. Davis

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Rodney L. Davis's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "illprimary":

  • From United States House of Representatives elections in Illinois, 2014: "Official Illinois State Board of Elections Results" (PDF).
  • From Erika Harold: Official Illinois State Board of Elections Results

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 12:12, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

COVID 19

On August 6 2020, appeared on CNN with John Berman and stated he had no symptoms with a notable, coarse, scratch voice. Perhaps, severity of COVID 19 should be a part of article. Any ideas? Wikipietime (talk) 12:38, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
