Name /redirect

I moved the page from Rodderick Toombs to Roderick Toombs; among other sources, Roddy's 2002 biography gives the correct spelling as "Roderick". --Chrysaor 22:28, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The Most Important Part ... his piping

Okay, I didn't watch WWF in his day ... or any day since ... I guess I was just too intelligent and had better things to do with my time. So far as I know tho, having already acknowledged a lack of information on this bloke, he actually played pipes to some degree -- yes, no? How about a section in this article about RRPiper and his piping experience, or lack there of (was his piping fake too?). Requested move

Toombs is best known as Roddy Piper, and he seems to own the trademark, so there's no chance he'll stop using the name anytime soon (unlike many wrestlers). Therefore, there's no reason to keep this page at its current location.

WCW career

There is hardly any information regarding his time in WCW other than the year he was signed and the year he was released. Anybody care to fill the gaps? Jeff Silvers 04:53, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Does anyone know the names of his children? I know that he has a son named Colton and a daughter named Fallon Danica. Doesn't he have a daughter named Ariel that recntly gave birth to Roddy's first grandchild? Roddy son is Colt, Dau. Fallon Danica,dau. Ariel Tiel and dau. I don't know what the deal is with that picture but I was just watching the first Piper's Pit where Piper came back to the WWE and I noted that Piper was actually taller than Vince. Complaint

Updated Facts piper won the golden gloves boxing championship was a black belt in judo and was an amatuer wrestler . He also won over 7000 matches . All are facts and should be mentioned. Piper's Pit

Who is for it as a seperate article, and who is against it? I think a discussion needs to be made, before people just decide to revert it back to a redirect with no discussion. Not supposed to win the Tag Team title?

What's this about Flair and Piper weren't even supposed to win the Tag Team titles? This is the first I've heard of it, and what's more, there's no proof of this. I'm taking it out until someone brings forth some proof. Anakinjmt 14:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Proof? No. You won't get it. However, the selection of Piper as Flair's tag team partner for that match was part of an online vote. One of the other candidates was Flair's long-time rival Dusty Rhodes. It was generally believed by many fans and "insiders" that the WWE expected Rhodes to receive the most votes instead of Piper. Either partner would have been compatible with the storyline, so the WWE proceeded with Piper anyway. In this regard, Piper was not "supposed" to be (or expected to be) in the match. ECW Appearance

MidAtlantic and Georgia

The 1980-1983 "MidAtlantic" section implies that Piper turned good by defending Gordon Solie while working for Jim Crockett Promotions (aka Mid-Atlantic). It actually happened in the separate (though frequently cooperating) promotion, Georgia Championship Wrestling. I propose changing the header of that section to something like "Mid-Atlantic and Georgia" and clarify the location of the Solie incident. Petruzzi/Bertuzzi

The article right now says:

"Following a leave of absence from the WWF, Piper returned during a TV taping on WWF Superstars in 1986 against jobber A.J. Petruzzi and seemed to be a fan favorite. After being slapped in the face by Bertuzzi twice, Piper placed one hand behind his back and beat his opponent to a pulp."

I don't know enough about the wrestler involved, so is his name Petruzzi or Bertuzzi? Or did he wrestle under both? Unless he changed his name in the middle of the match, that should really be fixed. --There are no names left (talk) 03:31, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Roddy Piper

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Roddy Piper's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Singing Career

Anyone have any information on his supposed singing career in the early 90s? He released a single with a music video in 1992 entitled, "I'm Your Man". I'm not sure if it was only released in the UK or what but apparently it was under Sony's label. The video aired years later on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro. It seems that it should have at least a passing mention in the article considering his other successes outside of wrestling. TheGary (talk) 18:11, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Merger proposal

After suggesting the deletion of the Piper's Pit article at WT:PW#Piper's Pit I figured this would be a more appropriate step. I propose the Piper's Pit article be merged with Roddy Piper due to the notability of the subject relating to this article. Some of the content on the Piper's Pit page does seem notable, however, I can't say the same for the majority of other notes listed there. Other issues with the Piper's Pit article include a lack of sources and list format. ^{--UnquestionableTruth--} 03:42, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

These are the paragraphs that (at the minimum) should be merged:

• Piper interviews jobber Frankie Williams, tells him that he's worthless and beats him up. This is where Piper coins one of his famous quotes: "Just when they think they've got the answers, I change the questions."
• André the Giant turns heel on Hulk Hogan, comes onto the set with Bobby Heenan, and challenges him to a match at WrestleMania III, and rips off his shirt and crucifix before walking off the set with Heenan as well. In the process of ripping the shirt and crucifix, Andre's fingernail penetrated Hogan's skin, accidentally causing him to bleed, which Piper noticed and said to Hogan, "You're bleeding". Piper shocked many fans by actually comforting Hogan and leading him offstage. About a week later, Hogan returned to the pit to give his answer to whether or not he'll take Andre's challenge; "YEEEEEEEEEEESSS!"

• For the time being, a merger seems like the best idea. I believe the subject is notable, but it needs to be rewritten and sourced. Unless someone is willing and able to do that now, a merger until someone can make a Piper's Pit article that meets the notability requirements seems like the way to go.
