The story about Alan Lancaster refusing to return home from Australia to take part in the Status Quo video is a myth, although Francis Rossi mentions it in his autobiographies. Lancaster and his wife were going through divorce proceedings, and had to attend a legal meeting (in England) regarding custody of their son. The meeting had already been postponed and was rearranged for the same day as the video shoot, so he gave the group his full approval to go ahead with the video shoot without him. Rossi subsequently had differences of opinion with Lancaster, largely as a result of management interference, and the story may have been fabricated to discredit him.
