Rockfort: ruins and communnity

[edit]

There seems to be two Rockforts: a ruins and a community, perhaps even neighborhood. I still have to do more research. I am not yet sure if the ruins are in the community, or not. (I was making updates to the article based upon the only source with specific site information - it was still a work-in-progress.

I am guessing that there should be two articles. I am not sure, though, that Rockfort (Jamaica) is the correct title for the ruins.

Pinging @FloridaArmy, Sitush, and Deb: for their opinions... as well as anyone else that would like to weigh in on this.

In the meantime, I'll keep plugging away. Please don't move the page again until we've discussed it.–CaroleHenson (talk) 01:27, 28 May 2018 (UTC) [reply]

P.S. When I search for Rockfort, Kingston, Jamaica on google maps, I don't get the neighborhood or the ruins here.–CaroleHenson (talk) 01:30, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to be a community from this. Not sure if that's the same as a neighbourhood/neighborhood. But, it is small ~2,100 households–CaroleHenson (talk) 01:37, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
FloridaArmy started Rockfort (Kingston, Jamaica), but there were significant issues, so I've updated that article and working on that as well, using the community info above.–CaroleHenson (talk) 03:01, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Update, so you don't need to read the rest of the information:

  • Yes, two articles are needed.
  • The old fort is east of Kingston and it's titled Rockfort (Jamaica). The title is a little confusing, I wonder if it should be a parenthetical that includes the word fort, fortress, other.
  • There is a "community" of about 2,000 households named Rockfort and it's title is now Rockfort (Kingston, Jamaica), but I think it should be Rockfort, Kingston, Jamaica or Rockfort, Kingston.
  • I found what information I could find, but there is not a lot that either meet the test of a) reliable sources or b) encyclopedic content. There are quite a number of articles in archived google news, but most of it is about gang and interpersonal violence. There are a few articles that someone may be interested in: a new eco-friendly desalination plant, a community center to help improve the crime-ridden area, and a UNICEF football programs to promote non-violence among children.–CaroleHenson (talk) 05:14, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Rockfort, Jamaica, would be the only alternative title I can think of, but that would be misleading. You've done a great job on this so far, CaroleHenson. Deb (talk) 07:50, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Deb, I couldn't believe how hard it was to find the scant bet of info I found about these two places.–CaroleHenson (talk) 09:17, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Rockfort Fort or Rockfort Fort and Mineral Baths would work. Or Rockfort ruins / Rockfort ruins and mineral baths. FloridaArmy (talk) 10:10, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
