Oregon Country category

[edit]

Is there some particular reason this is in the Oregon Country category. The OC cat is for pre-1848. Do the editors here want it removed, or changed to History of Washington? Aboutmovies 07:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Open cut

I deleted

"O'Reilly is later notable in provincial history (and legal history) for his treaty commission, and today remembered mostly for his Point Ellice House, his gracious home in Victoria, today preserved as a museum."

and

"At the end of the meeting, he insisted on shaking each man's hand and looking them in the eye as they left the tent."

and

"Today it is a small tourism, artists, arts & crafts, agricultural and resource community on British Columbia Highway 3 (the Crowsnest Highway), and lies at the junction of British Columbia Highway 33 from Kelowna and the Big White Ski Resort, a few miles west of the City of Greenwood, the last survivor of the great smelter cities of the copper and galena boom in the Boundary Country in the early 20th Century."

as irrelevant to the Gold Rush; if anybody thinks this is worth saving, put it on O'Reilly's or Rock Creek's Page. And can somebody clarify this:

"urgent due to similar economic and strategic interests as those concerning the Dewdney Trail and because of the steep grade to the Kettle River via the route of the Dewdney Trail, the southern mainline of the CPR, known as the Kettle Valley Railway, ran down that river "

I find I'm not really sure what the writer was getting at. Trekphiler 02:41, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How much was taken out, in oz gold & dollars? Trekphiler (talk)Canada 22:39, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Same author (me), different answer; I'll have to dig up colonial gold reporting revenues; i.e. the mining districts and their reports/statements, mining districtis all still need articles....I tend work on 400 things at once, though....Skookum1 (talk) 00:09, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thoughts about where to look later; I'm on my way out.Skookum1 (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
