Suggestions for edit
[edit]A few thoughts from someone who hasn't a clue about the subject itself -
1) Intro - most of this should go somewhere else. The intro should say what the subject is - It's about .... published by a number of imprints between .... well-know artists, writers who were involved were .... (legend Murphy Anderson did the DC series, don't forget to link to Wikipedia pages for anyone else you find) ... many titles were from a film/animation spin-off
2) a bit of background on Robotech (not much as they have their own link) and perhaps the license owners/creators ... so much of the current intro goes there? - Robotech comics first officially appeared in print in 1985, though Comico published the first issue of its license from Harmony Gold USA under the Macross name. from intro
3) he next bit When Harmony Gold was releasing the first few episodes of its original Macross dub in 1984, it was discovered that Revell already had a Robotech Defenders line of scale model kits that included the transformable Macross mecha. The potential for brand confusion caused concern that Harmony Gold would have problems selling its own transformable Macross toys. Fortunately, Harmony Gold and Revell were able to come to a co-licensing agreement — when producer Carl Macek had the idea to combine Macross with Southern Cross and Mospeada to create an 85-episode television series, he chose to use Revell's pre-existing Robotech name and logo to strengthen the title's brand recognition. what does it have to do with the comics - rework or ditch.
4) Use the Comic Book DB and Grand Comics Database to add numbers and dates for the various titles ie: #1-27 (Jan 2001 - Nov 2006)
5) add links to any good articles about the tv series the comics were based on.
6) a quick Google on "Robotech Defenders Comics" will give you a few articles you can cite the facts from if you're picky (sadly most are non-reliable sites, but there's a few news-type items). Strip out anything in the article that you can't find quotes for 'poor sales' (try - [1] and [2] 'reportedly pressure' etc.
7) standardise the text box.
That'll do to start with Cheers! Archiveangel (talk) 12:16, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've done a quick run through adding database links for the longer running titles, which should prove useful but there are numerous others that can be searched for but it is a start.
- There is too much WP:BOLDFACE that needs reducing.
- It'd be wise to run the footnotes through {{cite web}} for consistency. (Emperor (talk) 01:35, 28 April 2010 (UTC))
German produced comic series
[edit]There was also a German produced comic series produced in 1984, apparently based directly on Revell's model kits. The credits I find are Script: W. Spiegel, Artwork W. Neugebauer, Printing: Kirchner OHG. I have the only Swedish issue, and I don't know how many issues appeared in West Germany. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 15:24, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
