Student leaders in infobox

[edit]

Wiki-Assist.Manager has added a list of student leaders to the infobox. [1][2] I don't think it is sufficiently notable, in the context of an encyclopedia, so removed them [3][4] - returning to the WP:STATUSQUO. The fact that there is no "student leaders" field in the infobox suggests that in general it is not appropriate, so a strong argument would be required to support it. Other editors are invited to comment. Mitch Ames (talk) 00:07, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Given that WP:RFCSCHOOLADMIN concluded to remove any school leadership below "principal", it is very hard to make a case that student leadership should be included. Further, the source used to support the inclusion of the student leaders was a primary source. Good removal, Mitch Ames. @Wiki-Assist.Manager: please do not restore them again, certainly not without consensus forming here on this article talk page to include them. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 00:38, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Mitch, I am Alina the Robina State High School Media Manager. In a recent board meeting with the School Leadership team (the Principle, Deputy Principles, etc.) We conclude that we would like to increase the about of publicity we give to our Student Body Leaders. We would appreciate if you would accept that request.
Regards,

I am Alina the Robina State High School Media Manager — OK. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. While your input is welcome to help improve the article (in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines), as a general rule you should not edit the article directly (other than minor corrections - spelling, grammar etc), and you should declare your conflict of interest as described at WP:DISCLOSE.
we would like to increase the about of publicity we give to our Student Body Leaders — Wikipedia is not the place to do that; please read WP:PROMO, and WP:NOTADVERT. Mitch Ames (talk) 10:24, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Mitch, I understand you not understanding the reason we did this. The purpose for this is to give our newer year 7 students connections for when they enter the school so they know who to contact. Wikipedia is a site that comes up before our own so we want to have the best information on it aswell as our site. As for DOE-Queensland we have a government permit to correct and add necessary information into public forums. Our publicity here is not commercial so we seek no financial benefit to have it here. It's wanted here solely for the comfort of families and students. We understand you might not have the power to permit this but if the next undo that I conduct gets removed this will have to go to the South East Director of our State (Queensland).

I understand you not understanding the reason we did this — I understand your reasons, but Wikipedia is not the right place for the information.
if the next undo that I conduct gets removed — I urge you to read Wikipedia:Edit warring before undoing an edits.
... we have a government permit to correct and add necessary information into public forums. ... this will have to go to the South East Director of our State (Queensland) — Australian federal or state governments do not have any control over Wikipedia. Wikipedia is governed by its own policies and guidelines, as agreed and interpreted by consensus among Wikipedia editors globally. As I said, you are welcome to help improve the article - but you must adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:06, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Wiki-Assist.Manager: I think we understand quite well why you did this. I concur with Mitch. Your government permit does not empower you with any control of any kind whatsoever with regards to Wikipedia. The permit has no standing here in any respect. Even if Mr. Albanese himself ordered the addition of this material, it wouldn't have any effect here. Further, not having a commercial interest in adding this material does not mean you do not have a conflict of interest. Lastly, it's not a question of any of us having the power to permit this addition. I don't have any particular "power" here above yours, nor does Mitch. We are all editors here. All editors in good standing have the same "power" as any other editor. What we work with here is consensus. That policy notes "Consensus is Wikipedia's fundamental method of decision making". Right now, you do not have consensus to add this material. Thus, per that policy, the material will not be included unless consensus is achieved to include it. You can achieve consensus by convincing enough participants in the discussion that the material should be included. --Hammersoft (talk) 12:51, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
