Removal of PR "puff"

[edit]
I am removing the unreferenced PR Puff piece. If there are reliable sources, please add them. --96.232.22.160 (talk) 05:57, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was asked to open it up to discussion. Unless someone objects, may I remove unsourced PR Puff from this BLP? --96.232.22.160 (talk) 06:53, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've added some external references --Flewis(talk) 06:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
that's nice, thank you, but they don't relate to the PR content in any way??--96.232.22.160 (talk) 07:04, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, as the links provided contain information that is both necessary and relevant. In any case "PR Puff" is no justification for page-blanking.--Flewis(talk) 07:42, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
the links do not relate to the content in the article. I thought removing unsourced material in a BLP in not considered page-blanking. --96.232.22.160 (talk) 07:46, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
*Ahem* - the links do in fact pertain directly to the article subject (i.e. Roberta Baskin). Once you bother to read them you may consider retracting that statement. In regards to BLP, you are correct that an essential requirement for such an article is to contain sources. However the page that you blanked didn't portray the subject in any negative light, and a simple google search for the addition of references would've sufficed - rather than inappropriately blanking the page 7 times. --Flewis(talk) 07:55, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
please tell me which facts about baskin that i removed (ie. most of the article) is mentioned in the random links that you included? --96.232.22.160 (talk) 08:05, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The information removed is undoubtedly positive but is definitely not "PR puff". As I read it, it's basically a standard compressed description of the subject's professional accolades, similar to that seen in many, many stub-length WP:BIO articles. In a stub-sized article, this type of accolades-heavy paragraph is pretty much required to establish the subject's notability in their field and thus prevent the page from being speedily deleted. Also, the general rule for WP:BIO articles is that while all unsourced information is subject to being challenged and removed, the real issue is unsourced negative information, which must be removed as soon as it is seen. The information you removed is not negative and all it does is state a series of easily verifiable professional facts and awards. This is not the kind of thing we generally scream "Unsourced in a BLP!!!" and remove instantly, because 1)it doesn't hurt anyone, and 2)it's easily verifiable and factual, ie- not someone just saying "This person's wonderful and amazing and great." I intend to make a WP:BOLD edit, which will cut out the unreferenced laudatory puff, and will instead state a more objective set of facts. If there is material out there that is sourced, and referenced PLEASE add it. But right now, this page reads like PR for the subject. --96.232.22.160 (talk) 22:36, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As presently written, this lightly-sourced stub article seems like a biased, sloppy slam against a member of the media who has won many awards for investigative journalism and has held significant leadership posts that are not even mentioned.Jhutson64 (talk) 18:57, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
