The article indicates that Robert's ancestor Marjory was an alleged illegitimate daughter of Henry, Earl of Huntingdon but according to the article about Henry's legitimate daughter Margaret of Huntgindon, Marjory may have been a legitimate daughter of Margaret and her third husband William FitzPatrick of Washington. This second theory has been proposed by G. S. H. L. Washington, The earliest Washingtons and their Anglo-Scottish connexions (1964) and accepted by W. P.
