NHL description as Fort King Site?
[edit]The Robert S. Abbot House is described by the National Historic Landmark summary titled Fort King Site. Why is it called Fort King there? There was discussion about this in the Talk page of the List of Chicago Landmarks, where it was asserted that the NHL summary is misnamed. It's not right to dismiss the name, just because it is not currently known why that is a name for the site. I think it needs to be explored and explained. Persuant to editing practice elsewhere for NHL's, I am editing the NRHP infobox to report the NHL name (Fort King Site). doncram 07:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I put in a request to the National Park Service to review its webpage calling it Fort King Site. doncram (talk) 18:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- I tried that a while ago. :) Maybe you'll have better luck than me. Zagalejo^^^ 20:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- I did receive an emailed acknowledgement that the Fort King stated name and some other apparent errors on other NHL sites were indeed probably errors. But that the NHL webpages are only updated a couple times a year, and by a different NPS office than the one responding to me. I think the office was forwarding the info to the right place, but there was no specific commitment on their fixing it.... doncram (talk) 01:00, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Zagalejo pointed out to me that the NHL webpage has recently been updated, and no longer shows the "Fort King Site" name. Indirect official acknowledgement that that was incorrect information all along. doncram (talk) 23:06, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
