According to the artist's own website he was born in Derbyshire. This is sourced. I've made the source provided more explicit. I haven't a clue what the difference between Spondon and Derbyshire is (the Wiki article on the former says it's within Derby, which makes it the same as Derbyshire? Near? No idea). But we can only go by sources. freshacconci talktalk13:40, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like another two editors some of us care about accuracy ! Spondon was the place of his birth. So ? So why leave others in 'the dark' ? ! To deny readers knowledge be against the whole raison detre of wikipedia !! Furthermore, if you be an inferior cowboy ( Canadian !) what does it matter to you ? ! 92.41.184.151 (talk) 13:56, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Find a source and we can change it. Claiming you know him is irrelevant. How do we know that you know him? By your logic, I could claim he sits in a ditch and pokes berries up his nose. Where's the proof of that? Why, I know him, so it's true. You say I don't know him? Prove it. You can't and neither can I verify that you know him. Even if you do (and I really don't care if you do), your word is not a reliable source by any stretch of the imagination. We aren't denying knowledge; we're presenting neutral, sourced information. That is the raison d'etre of Wikipedia. Oh, and cowboys are American, not Canadian. Get your stereotypes straight. freshacconci talktalk14:01, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Anoraker, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it if you restricted your comments to the article rather than editors. Nev1 (talk) 14:13, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I take no insult from his comments. As a favour to another Brit (Nev1) I won't launch into anything on that topic myself (how's the Empire doing, by the way?). As an avowed Anglophile myself, I appreciate the mother-ship's culture, whilelamentingitswoes. freshacconci talktalk14:30, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
