Other family
[edit]This branch of the Olds family, which includes Robin Olds (Robert's son) and Edson Baldwin Olds (Robert's great-grandfather), is related to that of Ransom Eli Olds. Both branches descend from sons of the first Olds immigrant to America, Robert Olds (arrived in CT 1667). This branch stems from John Olds (9th child), while R.E. Olds descends from William, the 6th child. Robert Olds of this article is 8th generation, and Ransom Eli Olds is 7th generation. Don't know if anything can or should be done with this re: both articles, but this is altogether a very interesting family.--Reedmalloy (talk) 16:46, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
New article issues
[edit]Anyone with image skills would be welcome to post this photo of Olds: Robert Olds, which appears to be a US govt image. If not able to certify its free domain status, okay, it's the only one I've been able to find.--Reedmalloy (talk) 17:02, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

I have sometimes seen Robert Olds referred to as "Robert C. Olds", such as the PACAF external link, but no official records can be found with a middle name or initial. His official USAF biography is simply "Robert Olds", and his biographer Major Zamzow had access to his records for his thesis, noting the changing of the spelling of his last name. He also noted the correct birth name of Robin Olds. Had the "C." existed, it seems certain he would have cleared that up also. I have never seen a competent source with the middle initial.--Reedmalloy (talk) 17:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
