This book has some good info on him. I believe it says he was the first African American mayor in the South? FloridaArmy (talk) 11:15, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I found a source that wrote he was one of only five black mayors in the American South during the Reconstruction-era,^[1] and they thought he was the first Black mayor in the entire country!.^[2] PigeonChickenFish (talk) 03:17, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
